Toon Studios has officially opened to the public, with the press event behind us everybody is informed and the “residents” of the new land are totally ready for their guests. With the coming of the Toon Studios, the new attractions and the changes the name “Animation Courtyard” is no longer used. The new Toon Studios has taken its rightful spot, including on the park maps where Animagique, the Flying Carpets and Art of Animation has become part of it.
The new attractions are located at the far end of the old Courtyard. Here a narrowing path will lead you into the new area. Unfortunately the narrow connection does bring some problems. With the entrance of the new Crush’s Coaster located just there this path is usually blocked straight away. Crush’s Coaster is a low capacity ride (only 4 riders per car) and has a very small queue area that cannot take in all the waiting guests. After 10 minutes of opening the queue already started way up to The Carpets making it very difficult for bypassing guests to go further into the new area.
Crush’s Coaster itself proves to be a winner for the guests. Not only is they big queue proof, but guests reactions are very positive; a winner for Disneyland Resort Paris. The indoor queue area is not to long and has some surprises making the wait a little more fun. Nemo can be heard, but it’s the seagulls that are stealing all the attention when they try to convince each other it is theirs; “Mine, Mine, Mine”
Once riders take place, 4 at the time, back to back in pairs, the experience can start. The first part is the Dark Ride part where guest will see Nemo and his friends, beautiful scenery, and fun little extras like the hidden Mickey between the mines (only visible when riding forwards). The lift hill brings you up very fast, with a glance at Bruce trying to attack, before the roller coater ride experience starts. (for a personal view also see Mousekingdom Blog)
The second attraction, Cars Quatre Roues Rallye, is located opposite Crush’s Coaster. A lot of details related to the movie can be found here. Again a low capacity ride but this time with a very long queue area. While guest waiting for the ride will have no problem entering the queue they will be in for a long wait. The attraction will have a big appeal for young children, trying to pass it to avoid a long waiting time will not be easy once the little one spotted the attraction. Both attractions should be done early in the morning to avoid even longer times during peak hours.
The new Toon Studios area itself has been filled with little gems from the Pixar movies. The streets have lost their boring concrete and makes places for multiple different textures. Facades are well decorated and bring the magic we are so used of from Disney into the Studios.
New Meet and Greet areas have been located into the new Toon Studios too. During the normal day time hours Mickey and the Incredibles where available for pictures and autographs, during the evening press event Remy from the new Ratatouille movie took a spot in one of the areas. The background of those greet and meet area can be exchanged overnight, making it possible to have different sceneries and different characters come out.
The new area is a beautiful addition to the park. Once the new Tower of Terror and the façade around it will be ready it will have a complete new feeling. With the coming of the Toon Studios it has proven that the future for the Studios is very promising.
