Starting June 29 Remy will present his cooking abilities to movie audiences in the US, but European audiences will have to wait a bit longer, till the latest Disney Pixar feature finally opens, e.g. the UK and Germany won't see it till October, as Disney is avoiding the highly competitive summer weeks at the movies with Shrek III, Harry Potter V, The Transformers and many more high profile features.
So one could guess Remy would be busy promoting his movie over in the US, but the likeable rat made sure to find some time to join the festivities for the official opening event of the Toon Studios at the Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Resort Paris. Regular guests surely noted the two Ratatouille posters that were placed on the revolving signs on the front of Studio 1 facing the Frontlont (because of which the revolving posters were blocked in one position), as well as the giant poster stretching over the full width of gates on the rear facade of Studio 1. But the star of the movie came out only for the event in the evening, where he lined the red carpet together with other Disney and Pixar characters.
Later in the evening he could be met in the Toon Studios where the Incredibles background had been replaced with a Ratatouille backround featuring a view of Paris, the city of lights in dusk. Here Remy posed for photos with guests and turned out to be a real draw. While some fans in the past wondered whether a rat really could be a likeable rodent (after all Professor Ratigan is well remembered as the villaneous rat from Disney's The Great Mousedetective") this evening clearly proofed that Remy is one of the cutest, "cuddliest" characters that have come from Pixar ever, winning hearts with lightning speed.
Unfortunately Remy is now back to work - promoting his feature in the US and preparing some incredible menus - but fans can look forward to him joining the line-up of characters regularly featured in the Walt Disney Studios Park really soon. But no word, yet whether he will then replace the Incredibles again at the photo location, which had returned by the next morning. After all the backdrops placed on the rear walls of the Toon Studios, at the bottom of the ToonTown backdrop can be easily changed as the event showed, for which also the backdrop of Mickey's House (currently featured on the right photo location) had been replaced with a ToonStudios backdrop in front of which Goofy posed.
